Appearances, runs, wickets, catches & stumpings

We’ve updated the Club Senior records to include all stats to the end of the 2024 season and over the coming weeks we’ll be unveiling them in logical groups.

We’re going to start with the records across ‘all games’ – this is all league, cup & friendly games across all of our senior sides.

Looking at who’s played the most games….

  • Of our current player base, Ian Sharrock continues alongside former President Brian Shenton to be the only two players to have played more than 1,000 games, however does Simon McGowan have 59 games in him to join them?
  • In 22nd place, Graeme Keenan (513) broke through the 500-appearance barrier and moves up two places
  • 1st XI skipper Matt Owen (339) is the biggest mover, entering into the Top 50 having moved up six places into 48th
  • Looking at who’s loitering just outside the Top 50, Coming up on the rails, Dave Williams (324) should feature in the ‘Top 50’ come the end of the season

  • After a fine season with the bat, Ian Sharrock (22,162) extends his lead at the top of the table
  • Of the current players who feature in the Top 10, Darren Warburton (14,570) has cemented his place in 3rd, Rob Chapman (13,533) will be looking to overtake Arthur Irwin (13,621) in the first few weeks of the season, in 5th and Ian Potter (12,047) will be looking to creep up on Nigel Sharrock (12,526) as the season progresses
  • The big movers come at towards the lower end of the Top 50 with Dan Owen (4,762) moving up three places to 41st, Phil Wood (4,443) moving up five places to 45th, Matt Smith (4,733) up two places to 47th and Tom Woods (4,293) up three places to 48th
  • On the periphery, Chris McArthur (3,859) should break into the Top 50 come the end of the season and Joe Green (3,636), Tom Marsland (3,634 and Lee Dixon (3,548) will be hoping for some strong performances to make it as well

  • On the back of a solid season with the ball, Simon McGowan (1,365 wickets) edges further ahead of Club President Pete Clark (1,278) as the Club’s all-time leading wicket taker, although the evergreen Ian Sharrock (1,177) will no doubt be looking to make advances and push Simon hard
  • Plenty of movement in the second half of the table with notable advances for Phil McGowan (328) up five places to 37th, Rich Battersby (266) up three places to 43rd, Phil Wood (255) up four places to 46th and new 3rd XI skipper Luke Williams up three places to 50th
  • Coming up on the rails, Sophie Morris (192) will need a strong 2025 to feature in the ‘Top 50’ come the end of the season

Looking at the safest hands in the Club…

  • Brian Shenton (467) is comfortably out in front and looks a long way off being caught, although Ian Sharrock (391) is closing in on 400 catches
  • Elsewhere in the ‘Top 10’, Tom Marsland (288) draws level with Darren Warburton and will be looking to pass through 300 catches this season
  • Plenty of activity in the lower part of the Top 50 with both Matt Owen (92) & Matt Smith (892) making steady advances

  • Tom Marsland (129) continues to push Barrie Burns (146) for second spot but is our No.1 gloveman capable of overtaking him in 2025…
