One club; One community
Throughout the year, Upton Cricket Club find opportunities to support good causes, whether through our popular Winter Warmer Scheme, our ongoing relationship with NEO community, our links with the Parkinson’s Society or cricket generated opportunities such as the CCCL's "Paint Cricket Pink" weekend for Prevent Breast Cancer.
Never do our thoughts turn more to others than in the run up to Christmas and nothing could be more fundamental than helping those for whom it is a constant struggle to provide nourishing food for their family. Accordingly, thanks to an initiative from new Club Development Officer Lee Dixon we have been delighted to support Wirral Foodbank this Christmas.
As ever, our Chairman, Jez Lamb , was at the forefront of publicising and organising our campaign. As the welcome donations from club members were passed over, Jez commented : "It's our pleasure and privilege to contribute towards the tremendous work of Wirral Foodbank. We're in awe of everything they achieve on behalf of those in need locally. Community support comes in many different forms and our friends at the Foodbank are a vital resource to so many".
First team captain, Matt Owen, added : "The players and members at Upton have really embraced this opportunity to give a little something back to our immediate community. We're a club that's proud of its origins and it's been a great education to learn more about the vital work carried out by Wirral Foodbank."
Thanks to all those that donated, you really have MADE A DIFFERENCE
