Welcome to our new website, a great improvement on the old one.
Those of you who came to the Junior Presentation night know I have taken over as the Junior Cricket Chairman.
For those of you unsure who I am see pen picture above, shot from my very best side.
So it's not actually how you see me, but it is a good representation of how I feel I look.
To be fair the kids were too embarrassed to allow me to use an actual picture and the wife assures me that no woman is going to spend much time on a cricket website, I thought this just might get one or two to venture onto my blog.
Firstly apologies, my first job was to organise winter nets, which I did and they were due to start on 16th January at St Mary’s School, Wallasey. I duly sent out an e-mail to inform as many parents as I could about them, only to then receive an e-mail from the school cancelling the first week as the hall was set up for exams. This news did not go done well with my three.
I checked that we would be ok for the following week and was assured we would be. So I duly sent out another e-mail informing everyone of the change of arrangements; shortly followed by another e-mail from the school cancelling our second week. This news was greeted in the McGowan household by a chorus of "Resign, you're useless!!” My apologies for this poor start to the year, and hopefully I can only improve, especially with the support of my family.
So to confirm, nets have been put back another week and should now start on 30th January, 7-8pm at St Mary’s School, Wallasey.
There will be a cost of £3 per child per session.
Nets are open to all children who will play hard ball cricket this season up to and including the U15 age group. (Over 15’s should attend senior nets, details of which can be found on the website)
Children who played U9s last year but who are due to go up to hard ball cricket this season, i.e. will turn 10 in this school year, are welcome to come along to get their first taste of hard ball cricket (hopefully not literally!).
We will have kit available for the children to use, the only item they should look to have of their own is a cricket box/protector.
Nets are not compulsory but we look forward to seeing all those keen to get the season started early.
If you have any queries please drop me an e-mail at sgmcgowan@tiscali.co.uk.
My blog will be published weekly and I will use it over the next few weeks to explain what we are planning for the 2015 season.
Regards
Simon
