1st XI vs Oakmere (a)
Date/time: Sat 3 June | 12pm
Preview: Matt Owen returns to lead the 1st XI looking to restart their campaign having suffered back-to-back defeats in the last two weeks. Tom Marsland also returns following absence last week, with Ian Sharrock selected following his heroic dash from the back pitch last week where he was meant to be captaining the 3’s, stepping in at the last minute and claiming a couple of wickets. The hosts come into the game, having themselves not won for two games having lost against Tattenhall last week and drawn against Northwich the week before. Slade Mitrovich (221 runs) leads the way with the bat for Oakmere, whilst Nick Guest (14 wickets at 6.5) is the man doing the damage with the ball.
League Position: Upton 5th (89pts) | Oakmere 8th (81pts)
Previous meeting: 17 August 2013 – Upton won by 6 wickets having bowled Oakmere out for 156 (Matt Ingram 5-41) and reaching the total after 21 overs (Alex Cotter 43, Simon Evans 41)

2nd XI vs CHEADLE HULME (H)
Date/time: Sat 3 June | 12pm
Preview: Sam Talbot’s 2nd XI entertain Cheadle Hulme and is able to call upon a strong group looking to secure victory against the league’s top side. The batting line up is bolstered by the returning Ian Potter, Darren Warburton, Danny Newhouse and Julian James, with five bowlers adding plenty of options for the skipper. Cheadle Hulme come into the game with a 100% record having won their opening six fixtures having last week comfortably seeing off Port Sunlight whom they bowled out for just 51 and made quick work of reaching the total in the 11th over. Leading the way with the bat is Richard Robinson (122 runs) and with the ball Niall Greenlees (14 wickets at 6.4) is their top bowler.

Previous meeting: 20 August 2016 – Upton won by 5 wickets having bowled Cheadle Hulme out for 204 (James Woods 4-48, Mike McGreary 4-56) and reaching the total in the 45th over (Dom Potter 106*)

3rd XI vs Runcorn 2s (a)
Date/time: Sat 3 June | 12pm
Preview: In the absence of the regular skipper, Rob Chapman leads the 3’s as they head up the M56 to face Runcorn with both teams looking to push up the table. The side is strengthened with the return of the Club’s all-time leading wicket taker; Simon McGowan, together with Matt Morris and Vijay Markandu. The hosts come into the game with one win on the opening day of the season, one draw and four defeats having lost last week at Maritime where they posted 157-8 and saw the runs knocked off in the 31st over for the loss of 3 wickets. Mark Cahill (125 runs) leads the way with the bat, and Jamie Hill (7 wickets at 6.6) leads with the ball.

Previous Meeting: 20 August 2022 – Match drawn with Runcorn posting 240-9 (Vijay Markandu 3-61) and Upton posting 210-8 (Paddy Delaney 45, Clive Moore 42*)

4th XI vs WIRRAL 3s (H)
Date/time: Sat 3 June | 1pm
Preview: John Scragg’s 4th XI look to continue their good run of form which has seen them secure four victories from their opening six fixtures. The skipper is able to call on Matt Marsden, who in his last outing bagged a 5fer, as well as the experienced Ken Smith. In a reverse of last week’s fixtures, John Scragg’s 4th XI will be looking to complete the ‘double’ over their rivals from Clatterbridge. The visitors sit bottom of the table having lost 4 and conceded 2 of their opening six fixtures. Matt Roberts (71 runs) and S Harvey (6 wickets at 17) have been their top performers so far this season.

Previous Meeting: 27 May 2023 – Upton won by 3 wickets having bowled Wirral out for 118 (Phil Wood 5-32) and knocked the runs off in the 37th over (Dave Charles 31)

Sunday 1st XI vs PRESTWICH (H)
Date/time: Sun 4 June | 1:30pm
Preview: Phil Wood’s Sunday 1st XI field a side with eight home-grown players together with Sunday regulars Ravi Dhote and Sean Lynch for this tantalising fixture. If Play-Cricket information is correct, this will be Prestwich’s first visit to Old Greasby Road to face the Sunday 1st XI. In their last outing, the visitors played Brooklands a couple of weeks ago and posted 132-8 in their 35 overs, with Brooklands winning by six wickets.
